Ajawaan - 1995 registered Canadian Warmblood mare

Rest in Peace my beautiful girl. Ajawaan tragically left us in the early hours of May 8th, 2013 due to a post foaling colic. She left behind a beautiful brave little filly - Arielle.
Ajawaan was a 1995 registered Canadian Warmblood by the Hanoverian Celle Stallion Arkansas out of Avril Bay, an Abrupt (Hanoverian/TB) mare.
Aj was inspected and approved by three warmblood registries. At her Canadian Warmblood inspection in 1998 she scored first premium (8.17). She scored impressive 9's for her swing and elasticity, walk and general impression and development and 8's for breed, sex and type and conformation. She then went on to complete her riding test in 1999, scoring 8's for scope and technique in free jumping and rideability resulting in another first premium score (7.65). Ajawaan was also inspected by the Swedish Warmblood Association of North America (SWANA) in 1998, scoring Class II. At the age of 17, a little bit creakier, reasonably fat and blissfully happy, Aj was inspected by the Rheinland-Pfalz-Saar International Horse registry and still managed to score 47 - that's my girl!
Aj was treasured by us for her calm demeanor, regal air, and the ability to pass these qualities on to her foals. Ajawaan was schooling third level dressage with an amateur rider (me), when an unfortunate slip on ice in the turnout pen ended her dressage career.
After a few years of relaxing retirement, we decided to breed Aj to a local Welsh Section B stallion, Alvesta Picasso, owned by Daventry Farms in Darwell, Alberta. After uneventful breeding, the usual vet care in pregnancy (of note, two ultrasounds!) and eager monitoring of a routine, slightly overdue 350 day gestation, Ajawaan foaled healthy TWINS on May 1, 2008. Our spirits plummeted as we watched the second foal emerge as we knew twin survival was very rare. But much to our surprise, Rhiannon and Encore had not one single issue related to a twin pregnancy - both almost identical in size, had no leg or health issues and nursed like there was no tomorrow. Aj then went on to produce a beautiful tall bay filly by the Swedish Warmblood stallion Cree in 2011. Creescendo is registered with SWANA, Register B.
